New Wineskins

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine must be stored in new wineskins.” (Luke 5:37-38)

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

“Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.” (Colossians 3:9-11)

“And the one sitting on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new!’” (Revelation 21:5a)

Jesus taught us a new way and He makes all things new. In Him, the old is gone and the new has come. But if we try to take on Jesus’a way without repenting of our old ways, then we will be like old wineskins filled with new wine…we will burst! Jesus wants to not only give us a new way but to make us new creations in Him. Have you allowed Him to make you new or are you trying to take His way and marry it with your old way? Surrender your old ways, your old life, and live in the new creation Jesus wants you to be! This year, give up your way and take on His!
