Don't Bother

Do you ever feel like something you’re going through isn’t important enough to bother God about it? No matter what the issue might be, you tell yourself that there are bigger, more serious problems in the world—God doesn’t care about my problem. There was a moment when the disciples acted this way to some parents who brought their children to Jesus, and Jesus showed everyone that He has time for everyone.

“One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. But Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.’ And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.” (Matthew 19:13-15)

The disciples scolded the parents for bothering Jesus! Only one chapter earlier Jesus had a little child come forward and sit amongst the disciples as an illustration that they must become like a child to be the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Now here they are scolding parents for bringing their children to Jesus. The disciples must have thought that Jesus had more important things to do, that the children were insignificant, or that having Jesus put His hands on them and pray for them wasn’t a worthwhile request. We can be this exact same way, believing the lie that what we want to bring to Christ isn’t worth His time and that He wouldn’t really care.

“Give all your worries and cares to God for He cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

All your worries and cares. Not just the big ones, not just the ones you think are most important. Give all of your worries and cares to God. Why? Because He cares about you, like the best Father in the world cares for His children. The same way you would want your children to tell you anything and everything that is bothering them, God is same way, but perfectly. He wants us to bring Him everything and give it to Him so He can carry our burdens. Don’t believe Satan’s lies that your problems or issues don’t matter to God or that they are too insignificant. Nothing is insignificant to God. He cares about every aspect of your life. Bring it all to Him, hold nothing back. Give all your worries and cares to God—you won't be a bother!
